Join us on May 20th for a rejuvenating daylong retreat with Caverly Morgan. Held at a picturesque private retreat center just outside Charlottesville, VA the day will feature a blend of sitting and walking meditation, chanting guided by Laura Good, and insights and discussions led by Caverly.
This event is designed to accommodate individuals with varying levels of experience in mindfulness and meditation. Whether you are a beginner looking to explore teachings of awakening for the first time or an experienced practitioner seeking to deepen your understanding, our day of meditation and contemplation offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
Location
Our event is hosted at a private retreat center located near the Boar’s Head Resort, west of Charlottesville, VA. Location details will be provided to retreat registrants.

What to bring
To ensure your comfort, please bring:
- Comfortable socks (shoes will be left outside the building)
- Personal cushion or bench (blankets, matts, bolsters, and chairs are also available)
- Comfortable walking shoes (or boots for those who wish to travel beyond the patio onto the surrounding trails and grass walkways)
- Hat and sunscreen
- Packed lunch and snacks (refrigerator available)
- Water bottle filled with your favorite beverage (water provided)
Cost
The following retreat fees will go towards supporting Caverly’s travel and teaching as well as making a donation to the retreat center for hosting us.

About Caverly Morgan
Caverly is a meditation teacher, non-profit founder, speaker, and author. She is the founder of Peace in Schools, a nonprofit that created the nation’s first for-credit mindfulness class in public high schools. Caverly is also the founder of Presence Collective, a community of cross-cultural contemplatives committed to personal and collective transformation. She is the author of A Kids Book About Mindfulness as well as The Heart of Who We Are: Realizing Freedom Together.
Caverly blends the original spirit of Zen with a modern nondual approach. Her practice began in 1995 and has included eight years of training in a silent Zen monastery. She has been teaching contemplative practice since 2001 and leads meditation retreats, workshops and online classes internationally. Learn more at caverlymorgan.org.
Retreat Supporters
Laura Good is an experienced meditation practitioner and teacher who began studying Vipassana in 1999 at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She has studied many forms of Buddhism during her travels around the world as a professional musician and uses her knowledge of Pali chanting, music, art, and yoga in her life and work. Laura is currently a lead teacher at White Hall Meditation and lives with her husband and teenage daughter in Charlottesville.
Bill Detmer has pursued a lifelong passion at the nexus of health, education, and spirituality. Inspired by early travels through Southeast Asia and a more recent journey to Bhutan, he has embraced the practices of secular mindfulness and insights of Buddhism while attending White Hall Meditation and Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville. Inspired by teachers such as Rupert Spira, Eckhart Tolle, and Caverly Morgan, he has recently delved into the realm of nonduality, captivated by its profound simplicity and transformative potential. Bill lives in Charlottesville with his wife, grown daughters, and a host of furry friends.
